Check your cross-over tubes, they might be loose. What year/mileage, you have no signature.

2003 2500 76000 miles and it runs fine got a smarty and fass fuel pump

I see you're also having surging issues. I'd say your fuel system is in failure mode.

Have you been running higher than normal rail pressure? (Does a Smarty raise rail pressure? I have no idea).

no not haveing surging promblems just fuel smell but found leak it was return line on back of head
