Today i put in my old injectors dd 3s & when i started it i noticed fuel leaking from the rear of the head so i pulled the fuel lines loose & pulled out the crossover lines to look at them ,ive replaced the injectors a few times & thought the crossover lines were damaged but they looked good i put it all back together & it still leaks i also noticed the fuel pressure dropped from 22 psi down to 18 psi. Any thoughts? should i replace the crossover lines & possibly the fuel injector lines? can the injector lines mushroom if there over tightened & cause this leak?i also pulled the injectors out & looked at them they looked ok, no cracks. any help would be appreciated. thanks kurt. :{

fuel lines???

You say that fuel was leaking from the back??? Was this in the fuel over flow gallery??? or from the fuel lines? If it is the gallery your injectores lines may not be seated they have a two parts to them. This could be from over tighting them mine says 30 lbs torque. The drop in pressure is likely from passing more fuel to overflow. Hope this helps. Dam Dodges :confused:

where is the fuel gallery located & how can i check if fuel is getting in it. if fuel is overflowing into this gallery does this return to the tank or just run out & make a mess like its doing. the rear of the head is wet & fuel is dripping from the bottom of the motor i cant tell where its coming from. im thinking about ordering new fuel crossover lines inside the heads & try this. there only 16. 80 from cummins. any other info guys?

please explain the leak a little better is it from the lines or something else?

when you seat the injector you have to wiggle it a bit and you will feel it kinda center on the tube. start the threads on the line.

you dont want to torque them just snug them down until you get the bridges back on and re torqued. then tighten the lines down.

1 use your finger to feel for the center of the hole on crossover tube while turning injector back and forth.

2 start line onto head

3 install bridge and retorque

4 torque lines on

even though the bridges keep them from turning the injectors can turn a bit inside the notches. it helps if you center the tubes to make sure one isn't i bit off to the side.

new cross overs arent that much money you might as well start off with a new set or at least replace the ones that are leaking.

r u sure you didn't just break the return line while working near it for the #6 injector/ connector tube/ line? A break there could give less pressure at the lift pump (as there is about 8 feet less return line to the tank than normal) and put a lot of fuel at the back of the head. on the bright side-it would leak very little at WOT:)... you would just have to not ever slow down.
