Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel level sensor

My '01, 2500 quit while I was on I-10. I thought it was the infamous "lift pump" problem and had it towed to a Dodge dealer, only to find out that I had run out of diesel, even though the fuel guage read 1/4th and the DTE meter said almost 100 miles. Turns out the fuel sensor in the tank was bad.

Now I fill up when the trip odometer indicates it is close to time. Good thing to watch for.

First time mine ran out 1/8 tank on the gauge, 2nd time 1/4, 3rd time 3/8. Now I go by the miles and don't let it get below half. One more oops by DC. DW
