Ok, went to stealer yesterday to have them check fuel pressure. First off they tell me that the lift pump is not under the 5/100,000. They say only the injection pump. So I say ok, how much for me to buy a lift pump? He says $356. 00!!! He said it was a restricted item from "Star"? He asked me if I had any mods and I said "No". ( I took off the K&N and EZ). So he tells this woman standing behind the counter to call and see if my truck has been "restricted". What does that mean? Anyway the "star" line was down. He said he would check the pressure anyway. He drives it to the back and I hear him rev it up a little and he comes back and says 8 psi idle and 6 psi wot. He says looks like it is good. I say WTF! He says as long as it is above 5 psi it is ok. I begin to tell him that I know it is 2. 5 psi at wot and he says how. I used a gauge that I had calibrated with a certified Fluke 744 w/pressure mod from work. (I am an Instrument Tech, that's what I do for a living) He says oh well.
Can anyone help me? I would like to know where to find some info on the exact psi that DC says is allowed and some info saying that the part is under the 100,000 mile warranty. I have a set of DDI's that I need to install before Sunday. (I'm leaving for Atlanta, GA for 2 weeks) I don't want to install them until they change the pump.
My wife says I need to just trade it in on a Crew Cab Powerstroke. I love my Dodge, but what's a feller to do. ?
Sorry for the long thread. I just need a little help. :{
