Need Help for a Friend's Duramax

4th Generation Ram - who wants one?????

I need to run some lines to my new fuel cell. I am running mostly steel 5/16" line, but I need rubber hose to connect the lines up, with clamps.

In the auto parts store, they said regular fuel line(gas) would break down with diesel fuel in it. Is this correct, if I use regular fuel line, will it fail?

I know, I'm a diesel mechanic, and I should know this, but it threw me for a loop.

You probably could go to a Truck Dealer like Peterbilt,Cummins ect and get it

are a place that repairs Reefer Units on Trailers. :)

diesel will eat regular rubber, it swells up and can be sucked into various pumps/holes/filters, i got my lines from a large boat store after making the guy look up the specs on the lines he had to be sure they were rated for diesel

The hoses will swell. Even the diesel rated hoses aren't that good Michael. I replace most of the hoses at least once a year on our smokers at work. These are diesel rated hoses.

Think about DOT air brake line. Many fittings around for it. I am not sure of the PSI rating on it. But it is way higher than you would push fuel threw it.

Most fuel cells I have worked with had pipe thread feeds. Going DOT hose would make a clean install.

Fastenal has a good selection of plastic hangers that will work with DOT lines.

My fuel cell has a -8 JIC supply fitting, and I added a -6 JIC return line. I'm going to run as much hard line as I can and use rubber to attach the steel lines together. I'm just going to run the stock lift pump, so pressure is not a problem.

I'll look at some air brake line, and I'm going to stop by the John Deere dealer to look and see what they have.
