I've dropped my fuel tank in an ongoing effort to figure out why air is getting into my lines causing my truck to not start. Since it's down I was planning on replacing the fuel lines and anything else that is worth replacing.

Anyone have any suggestions on my best options. Should I upgrade to different lines? If so whats the best lines to use? Is this a waste of time and I should just do a visual/other tests and put the old ones back in if they don't seem cracked?

Is there any other maintenance/replacements I should do while it's down?

Thanks

I replaced my fuel lines with -6 (3/8") push lock several years ago, its easy to work with holds up good and my truck ran a bit better with the bigger size line

I would look for a good quality hose that is compatible with diesel fuel. Such as Parker-Hannifin or a Caterpillar made hose. These can be locally source at a Caterpillar dealer or a Parker-Hannifin dealer where they can sell you a ready made hose assembly or a push-lock style hose material and fittings. Not all hose material is compatible with diesel fuel and or gasoline so, you need to specify diesel fuel hose material.

I just fixed my leaking fuel lines and I went to napa, got 3/8" (feed) and 5/16" (return) soft fuel line rated for diesel and replaced everything from the tank to the fuel pump. Took about 12' of each, and I had to drop the tank to get to the lines on top of the tank. Now the lines don't leak and are easily patched in the future if stranded on the road.
