I upgraded all my fuel lines except the one banjo bolt into the lift pump and wanted to do it too but noticed that there is a steel line going into it and followed it back and don't see where it stops. It seems to turn into rubber and head to the tank. Is there a fitting somewhere under the rubber???

Nope. Its a plastic like hose with a rubber outside cover. That goes to the metal line that leads back to the fuel tank. The return line is the same way.

You can remove the plastic line from the steel line, place a piece of 3/8 rubber line over it, clamp it, and run it up to the lift pump with the proper fittings.

Well, I have tons of braided line and the five fittings that connect the line to the ports on the pump and filter housing. Where does the line change from plastic to metal and what type of fitting is it? Mine is a '98. 5.

Thanks

The supply line comes out of the tank plastic, turns into metal as it runs along the frame rail, and the turns back to plastic wrapped in rubber as the frame rail bends upward right to the left of the transmission under the driver. You can cut it loose and then unhook it from the lift pump. Install your adapter into the lift pump and you hose end fitting on the end of the hose. Hook that up and run the line down to the steel line you just cut the old line off, slip it ove and clamp it down.

Clear as mud.

Thanks Jeff that was exactly what i needed. I was worried I would get into it and end up doing more damage than necessary. #ad

I upgraded my lines with the braided lines & used one of those compression type fittings. The ones withthe 2 parts that screw together with a ferrule thats snugly fits over the steel line in between the male & female fittings. You,ll have to loosen the line clamps & cut the flared end off first with a small tubing cutter. No leaks so far!!
