I am having a hard time starting truck sometimes after truck has set for several hours. If I pump the primer button on lift pump truck starts right up. I cant find any fuel leaks but the line from the fuel heater prefilter and the lift pump looks cracked. So I would like to change it out. Looks like a simple piece of hose but Dodge says $18. 00. They claim there is a fitting on the end. Who else would have this and is it just a piece of hose. I would remove it and take it to match it up but when I removed the clamps one end is not coming off without cutting it. I dont want to be without the truck if I cant find a replacement quick. Thanks for any help. Carl

The hose is available without the fitting. Call a different dodge dealer or ask for another model year (94-98 will work) make sure they know its for a 98 12 not 24 valve.

Try this mopar part # 4883978aa about $10. .

The paint will crack on this hose, but this hose rarely fails.

I suspect it is the notorious return line that attaches under the intake manifold near the end of the injection pump. and drops down over the bell housing to the braided stainless line.

Search this site or www.dodgeram.org for install tips.

BTW its 5/16" 30R7 rated fuel line.

Good luck, Andy

Thanks for the help. I found the hose at cummins for a whopping $3. 50. Thanks for the website that will be my next step.
