Does this sound normal to you guys?

Most of my driving is stop and go. Shes a 99 with auto transmission and about 45,000 miles. Before this garbage winter blend fuel I got about 14-15 MPG (sometimes 13-14) Now I get a bit less. Do these numbers sound bad? No modifications to the truck exceot for muffler removal and boost gauge and much larger tires.

Are you correcting your distance traveled? Larger tires will move you farther than indicated by odometer.

I think Mom's 99 2500 4WD gets 16-18. I get 18-20 but I'm 2WD.

Sounds About Right To Me

From my sig. you can tell my truck is a 3500 auto and the numbers you stated sound about right.

Also we seldom if ever get as cold here in the desert southwestern as you do so your mileage would tend to be a little lower. Still very good mileage considering the weight we are moving around town. :p

I have pretty much the same truck running 285/75/16 tires and in the city I get around 16mpg corrected for the tires. When I head out on the freeway for a long trip it'll come up to ~18-19mpg. Truck has roughly 60K on the odo now... If you think you have a fuel problem be sure to change the filter and check lp pressure--that solved a lot of my ills earlier this month.

...

I think I read your post and it said you chaged your lift pump yourself. Where did you get it and how much was it? Sound like a tough install.

1999 4WD, 48,000 miles, auto, Shell, 4 inch ex. , high air flow air filter, Amsoil in everything, tires up to max PSI, gages, engine stock. Tow 5000lb Airstream (est. 15,000 miles of the total). ZERO problems.

Towing 13 - 15. 2 (15. 2 was at 55 - 58 MPH). Most of the time I get in the 14 MPG area towing at 65 -70 MPH.

Empty 18 - 20

In town, hard stop and go (short runs under 5 miles) 12. 5 - 14

:)

stevek....

How do you correct for the 285/75/16? I average ~16. 5, but wonder what it would be if I had 265's. I also have 4. 10's and expect to suffer some for that. TIA
