Will I lose any fuel mpg buy installing The stock horsepower fuel plate ? Right now I get 17 mpg every time and I don't want to screw that up

Currently, I'm running a #10 plate full forward and 181DV's in my 500K mile 160hp pump with a set of 215hp injectors and I'm getting 20-22 regular as clockwork running empty. I saw the same mileage with the same pump setup but a set of DD3 injectors and a Sled Puller 66mm turbo. The fuel plate won't affect your mileage as much as your driving style.

Isn't the plate what causes the breakover point to move? That is, the breakover is near the top of pedal travel near idle, but down near the floor at 3K RPM....

The plate shouldn't make much difference. My '98 12V has 215 injectors, stock pump, stock timing, plate full forward but back a hair for smoke control. On a recent drive from Elgin, IL to Princeton, WV, I got 20.35 MPG running 72-78 all the way. (631 miles, 31 gal.) The 8 oz. of Stanadyne fuel conditioner/cetane boost plus 8 oz. of 2-ethylhexyl nitrate in the tank helped a lot; I had a slight tailwind across Ohio as well. Without the additive, I rarely see better than 18.5 MPG.

gtobey was going to look into other cetane boosters; alas he retired last month from Blue Ridge Diesel. But maybe he'll have more time for research now that he doesn't have to take care of customers. :)

A bone stock '94, manual transmission equipped truck is only 175hp/420tq, they wont get out of there own way:) All of my trucks were stock at one point, I would not ever go back. Fuel mileage is important to me but not the "most" important.

It's important to me because I hate pulling transmissions out of the dang things I've got nowhere to be in that big of a hurry I need all that power and smoke

gtobey was going to look into other cetane boosters;
Ive heard that stanadyne has been sold and is no longer a quality product. I heard a good replacement is made by caterpillar. Ill try to post it when I hear more about it and the name.

The only info I've found is that Stanadyne sold off its filtration business in 2014. As far as I know, they still make quality diesel injection systems and fuel additives.
