Fuel Mileage during Regeneration

While going down the freeway at 65 I noticed that the mileage wasn't increasing and in fact was going down. I punched the reset button and the mileage went down to 11. 2mpg. It continued at this value for about 20 miles and then started climbing up. This seems like a lot of fuel being dumped into the exhaust. Is this normal? Truck has 25K miles on it.

I don't put much faith on the overhead fuel mileage computer. In fact I rarely look at it.

Thats normal during a regeneration... If you had an EGT guage , it would be pretty warm during this too. .

The MPG for the 6. 7 wouldn't be so bad if not for the REGEN.
