Fuel mileage on 5.9 gas burner

I drove a '96 2500 CC 4wd 5. 9 V8 w/auto 4. 10s for 2 years and I never got better than 14 mpg - on a good day, a really good day.

A friend of mine had one. We took it to the deer lease and he got 8. 9. That was with a 5x12 trailer and my honda 4 wheeler in it. Needless to say he does not have it now.

My wife's truck has the 5. 9 in it. We get about 14-16 on the freeway. If you don't treat it nice it will drop to the single digits around town. Not exactly apples to apples, but I expect your friend won't do any better with the rig you describe. See sig for details.

Needs another tank for fuel, get about 400 Km or 250 Miles per... Yuk

I had a 96, 1500, 4x4, 5. 9, w/285/75 tires, and 3. 55 gears. After adjusting the speedo for the larger tires the best I EVER got is 14. 8 all highway miles. Averaged ~13 combined city/highway driving. These numbers are unloaded. And I forgot to mention I had a cab height cab on the back.

A friend of mine is buying a 2001 1500, 4x4, QC, auto with a 5. 9 gas burner, he's not sure what rearend it has but knows it's a locking differential. This is his first Dodge and was wondering what kind of fuel mileage to expect.

My last truck was a '98 5. 9 gasser 2500 4X4 club cab(no doors). On a good week I could get 10 MPG with all in town driving.

I had a 1997 1500 Club Cab 4x4 with the 5. 9 & 3. 55s. 13-15 mpg frwy. 8-10 mpg city.

Poor milage but I did like the truck overall.
