Thought I'd strike up a conversation about mileage and perfromance. I'm getting a little better fuel mileage. Last tank, 13. 4 mpg, combined, a little more country driving. I'm starting to step into it too. these darned 25 ft acceleration ramps onto busy I-10. Last week I flat floored it and moved right smartly into traffic. I think folks behind me and on the interstate were a little impressed. I know I was.

I love this truck. I love the sound of it. The whine of the tires requires to to crank up the music a little, but it it cool.

Happy to hear your observations, mileage etc. , impressions.

I've never bothered to calculate the mileage on mine. I am not into lying to other drivers at the Flying J pump and I know this ISB6. 7 is not as fuel efficient as my old '01 with NV-5600 and 3. 54 gears so calculating it would probably not provide good news. My guess is it is probably getting around 14 to 15 mpg when running fast but empty on the interstate. Towing would be considerably less.

True, these are not great mileage trucks, BUT that's not why we bought them. I love my 5500 ( I do wish it rode a bit smoother when not towing though). I plan on keeping it a long time.

Joe,

Actually, these trucks get pretty good mileage IMHO. Mine is getting real close to what my 3500 gets. I really never thought I would get 13+mpg with my 4500. You can get a better ride like I do by adding a brush/grill guard or the full bumper combo. My tow body weight helped smooth out the ride too. The 19. 5s add a little to the rough ride, but not too bad, again IMHO. I think Dodge really got it right with these trucks.

Take care,
