I am curious to know what kind of mileage people are getting. I have a 20012500 extended cab 4x4,5 speed trans with 4. 10 rear, limited slip, 8 foot box no cover. I just got 22 miles per gallon on highway trip of 200 miles I get about 13-14 around town and about that towing a trailer with 5600 lb. tractor loader about 60 miles round trip. country 2 lane highway. On the highway trip no trailer. about 70-75mph. I just bought a new Spotrsmen travel trailer 32' 7000lbs haven't towed it far yet but my truck is doing what i bought it for. They really pull.

I've now got 13000 miles on mine, best tank to date is 19. 6 mpg. worst is 15. 4. this is towing a 3000 lb. jeep up to the 7000 foot level in the sierras and back. I think that J. pounder was doing some things with mpg a couple of months ago. Apparently he got up to 26 mpg but His grandmother got out of the truck and walked faster then he was driving. Sorry Jpounder. I have never run a tank full on a truly flat run, and Since I live at 2000 feet and drop down to sea level whenever I leave my house, I think that I loose about 1mpg. That 22 mpg is great. Look at www.dodgeram.org Dave Fritz has a page on what to expect for fuel mileage. Good luck. Matt

I have a 2001 ETH/DEE (6spd obviously) and empty on the hiway I get 21-22 consistently. It's funny, but I found if I baby it and don't get the turbo whinin' my mileage suffers about 1 mpg. In town I get 19 empty. Pulling a 4000 lb horse trailer up some big hills in texas I got 14, but I had my foot in it hard to break the motor in. Sounded like a jet engine with the wastegate blowing boost off.

I added about 1mpg when i added a tonneau cover, also.

Hope this is informative

Fritz

10500 miles, will update sig

The mileage Ive got from the CTD has never been impressive. I had a 01 5sp 4. 10 and got 16-17 empty hwy and 8. 5 towing 12600 lbs @70mph. I traded it for a 01 ETH 3. 55 recently and got 14. 5 first tank mostly stop and go city driving. 18. 5 mpg second tank mostly hwy @75. At 1000 miles I left on a 2500 trip moving my sister towing a 6500 lb enclosed trailer @70 and got an average of 10. 5. Both trucks had minor mods. If this new truck continues to get 18-19 empty or improves as it loosens up I will be satisfied. I take off from lights a little faster then I should and would rather cut off my little finger than let a chevy or ford pass me while towing. So each time I fill up I know its me and not the CTD to blame for the mileage.

mpg

I've got about 22k on mine. Ususally get 19-20 running around empty(probably 40/60 city/highway), around 14 pulling TT with racebikes and gear in the bed.

My 01. 5 6sp with 3. 55s has about 3600 miles on it and I constantly get between 17. 2 and 18. 5 empty and mostly cruising at 1850 RPM. I expected much better. My PS with the same driving gives 19mpg and I thought I'd get at least as good if not better. Maybe it's a break in thing and it'll get better with miles.

It was these STORIES that got me into the CTD in the first place!

Sorry but I do think they are stories. I know my truck is heavier than most with the utility bed and aerodynamicaly it is a brick. But right off the lot 11. 5 mPG. Was told to wait till it breaks in. Loaded her down with tools and stuff for work and it dropped to 10. 5 MPG.

I hear people towing with larger loads and a trailer cannot be any better aerodynamicaly than my truck and they claim 15 and up. I know my right foot is heavier than most but it's too big of a disparity for me.

The EZ has helped . 5 and I recently installed the 4" exhaust and Mopar Guy Air Filter. Hopefully this will bring it up some more. A little more break-in time and I hope I have to eat my words.

Until then Milage be damned, I want more power!!!

18K on the clock. Average 17 mpg since tank #1. Best is 22 on road trips with 4 head and luggage. Lowest is 9-11 pulling an assortment of GN's that are usually overloaded. I gotta heavy right foot.

Have not exceeded 60mph driving around these north eastern North Carolina back roads. Thought my milage would go through the roof. Nope. After babying it for a whole tank, I only got 18. 5. and I have a light foot and always think ahead. Towing I get 10. Worst was 8.

Still, compare the same job being done by a gasser and then :D :D :D

Hey I can tell you one thing I smoked granny on the downhills :) Im still glad I did it 10 hours behind the wheel purring down the road at 52 MPH on level gorund. !0 hours behind the wheel without stopping and I can tell you to watch out when I throw that cup of "water " out the window. It aint water! This winter I am going to make another stab with no fan and no rear view mirrors and maybe a couple of other mods then i'm going to get me a volkswagen TDI and limit my mileage testing to that!

I turned 11K today. The best has been 22. 9 at about 65-70mph. It is usually dead on 20 running 80% freeway at 75-80 and the rest around town. The low was 18. 4... just happened to be the tank after the modifications. It seems to be up a little the last few tanks... maybe 20. 2-20. 3 with the same kind of driving... CJ

My last trip to N. H. I got 22. 3mpg empty. Most of this drive was highway (70mph) but also included some heavy footed back roads such as the Kangamagus highway which has miles of 4-8% inclines! This mileage was calculated using my odometer and fuel pump readings. No story.

 Hi guys, I'm another new kid on the block. I've been reading post for about 6 months now and I could resist joining you boy. I gest we all like our truck. Would instaling a true torque module from DD set on timing only help fuel milage? any of you guys had any experience with fine tuning timing only with that box?

I don't do to bad 17/17. 5 around town and freeway but,put her on the freeway and set the cruise and i can see 22/25 empty :D maybe when the trans gets done i could see more. .

GBosse i got about 1. 5/2. 0 more with the DDTTPM with a lite foot. .

fuel mileage

My 2001 2500 4X4 with Auto,AC on the entire trip,3:54 gears, and cab high cap with 600 miles on the truck I took a trip to Ohio from New York and mileage averaged 21. 3 mpg. I was happy, my 2 WD Ranger pickup with the 4. 0 litre V6 and 5 spd. auto trans would only give me 18 mpg at it's best.

My Dodge Ram weighs at least 7,000 lbs. with the cab high LEER cap I have bolted onto the bed. Double the truck what the Ford was, and way better fuel mileage to boot. Diesels are great, nice and stingey with fuel and much more fuel efficient than gasoline. Oh, by the way any hills I hit through Pennsylvania did not bother that Cummins Diesel one bit. That engine just hunkered down and climbed those hills like they were flat. Guess I can say " The little engine that could ""

Hope this helps!!
