Fuel mileage/TSB 18-019-01

Made the trip to Denver (empty) and here are the results: at the fuel stop I put in 20. 94 gallons and it put on 375. 4 miles. Average MPG/17. 92. Fuel in Cheyenne is $128. 9. Drove pretty much well steady to the airport at 80 MPH and 2100 RPMs. Not much city driving at all this trip. Wind was a factor at first 80 miles but not after that. The reflash did not seem to make much difference in MPG but the performance seems to have a noticeable improvement. Has not been cold enough here yet to see if the fast idle and such works but I did notice that the 4th gear kick in is at about 52 MPH under normal throttle instead of 45MPH. I feel it was an overall improvement.

What is this fuel TSB you got? Does it apply for the '98 24V's Any info would be great.

TSB 18-019-01 is a cold climate, fast idle reflash that ramps the cold idle up to 1200 when temps dictate operation at start up. It is not a fuel enhancment in any way. I was just trying to relay some info on to others that were considering this reflash and I put in my 2 cents. Reflash is only for the 24 valve engines.
