I've had my truck for 17-months now. This is the first time I calculated freeway only fuel mileage. Approximately 400# load. Wow! 26mpg. Recalculated twice to make sure there was no mistakes. I want to add a stright-thru muffler and pipe, will this affect these good numbers?

Oo. I'm impressed with this CTD Ram, Patrick.

I just got my first tank of summer fuel, it's nice to be getting my 22 mpg average again, I drop to around 18-19 with winter fuel... . the extra 100 miles between tank fills is great especially at current prices

That is a nice number. Reminds me of 27 with a 6. 5 NA blazer. I doubt the removal of the muffler would do anything but help milage (and sound). If your truck is stock you may even get better mileage by bumping up the timing just a tad. I am going to take the muffler off of mine soon too, just so I can hear the diesel (as if I can't hear it... . heh heh). I like the turbo decel sound that you do not hear at all with a #%$&!!#@ muffler. It is a banks muffler too but is to quiet. Either a 4" 1 chamber flowmaster center input/output, or none at all.

funny you should mention it . i just talked to the guy that bought my old 91 on friday. he told me he is getting 22 MPG overall average. he is thrilled to death.

only problems have been the pump solenoid wire connection slipped apart and that was a 10 second fix. had to have the radiator recored (apparently can't buy a new one). the nut on the output shaft from the transmission came loose but didnt cause any damage.

Good numbers Patrick... I can get 26 also on a highway trip if I drive sanely. ;)

"Normal" mileage is 22/24.

Minus 2 from those numbers on winter diesel.

17 mpg, for me too. But with fat mud tires, a little lift, and aerodynamics of a garage I can't complain. Now if I could drive it without spooling the turbo to 30 psi, and chirping the tires on the 3rd gear shift. mpg would prolly go up!:D With my trailer 25,000lbs or more 9-11 but thats at 72mph on the rolling hills of central Iowa going side by side with kenworths and petes. ;)

On stock size tires I nailed down 24 on a long road trip to Arizona. Went from Creston Ia to Chino Valley AZ and back. Left friday noon, and was back monday 1 am.

Its just hard to drive my "set you in the seat" diesel easy!
