I searched but couldn't find an explicit answer or pics which show any detail (the FSM doesn't show any detail of the underside). Can the capped auxilliary port be used as a return? The only pics I've found of the module are here (thanks to ncostello for the pics), but the pics don't show what the underside looks like for the auxilliary port. Does it have a tube which goes to the bottom of the tank? Is it connected to the primary suction port in any way? In this pic it's labeled as an auxilliary "suction" port which suggests it's either tied to the primary suction port or it has its own tube which leads to the bottom of the tank. I'm simply curious if this port can be used as a return port (as opposed to tapping into the tank fill tube for example)?

Yes! I have my fuel module apart right now for some custom upgrades. The capped auxiliary port leads to a hose that projects downward but not far enough to work for the supply side of things.

I 2nd that. It is there for the draw from the auxilliary fuel tank if U put one on and runs about halfway down the fuel tank module.

dealing with the same thing on a 97

I do have the return line entered into to the aux in port and it does work except when you get below 1/4 tank and go around a turn she starts to act like she is running out of fuel Im thinking the original return line must go to the bottom sort of making a complete circuit correct me if im wrong,Ive had the tank down twice and should of taken the module out but didnt as I didnt want to mess up something I didnt think was wrong Everything else is fine and am thinking of sending off for some fittings from C. Stewart to replace the broken ret and the not broken sup fittings I was even thing of extending the aux in line to the bottom. Keep this thread going and maybe someone will jump in. Joe. G already has given me some insight as have some other of our great members. Joe knows this module as good as anyone and any other part of the fuel system as well.

Apparantly the original drops into the same bowl that the supply port pulls from, helping to keep it full. I'm just looking to use the aux. port as a second return line and leave the original return in place. Sorry, I should have clarified that.

John and GKarpen, thanks for the replies! Since the aux. line doesn't reach the bottom of the tank, do you think there's any concern that this return flow could causing foaming at low fluid levels or otherwise interfere with the operation of the suction line in any way? If the fuel drops outside of the pickup bowl then perhaps any disturbance of the pickup flow would be minimal, but if it's nearby then it could aerate the fuel as it enters the pickup (picture the aerated water at the base of a small waterfall).

A picture of the module and the tube for the aux. port would be extremely helpful, along with reports of anyone who has actually done this (similar to R. Guzzo's, but again only as a secondary return and not as a substitute for the primary return as in his case. ).
