I have a problem with my 2001 , a couple of weks ago the truck just died on the way home . Luckley I was able to coast home. The next morning I went out and after cranking the engine over a few times it fired right up and ran great . I was down to about 1/4 tank on fuel so I told my wife we would drive the truck so I could fuel it up. it made it about a mile the coughed and about a half mile later it quit completely . I put about 7 gallons of fuel in it and it and it ran good (after bleeding the injectors). I went ahead and put another 10 gallons of fuel in it and drove it on a 60 mile trip . The same thing happened again (truck just died ) got it going again by bleeding the injectors . I dropped the tank to see if there was a pssible problem with the pickup and found a torn strainer very little trash in it , replaced the pickup unit ( can't buy just the strainer ) still having the same problems have installed a pressure guage ( getting around 12 psi)and relocated the lift pump. at around 5/8 tank it runs out of fuel. I have an auxillary tank that I can drain into my main tank so and when it gets above the 5/8 level it runs fine. Seems that I have a leak on the suction side of the lift pump my thoughts are next replacing the disconnect line that leats to unit in the fuel tank tank. Any Ideas from anyone out there? I just replaced the injector pump, lift pump and filter earlier this year and get no codes when it dies. Thanks Randy

I had an issue with the connection at the sender, that plastic coupling didnt want to stay sealed, so I eliminated it and put in a custom 1/2" draw straw. no more issues since, and I can run it bone dry just like stock.

Where did you get this type pickup I do not want to have to keep pulling the fuel tank trying to fix this problem but plan on staying with my stock lift pump for now. Randy

I made mine. Since you have a new module, the problem must be outside the tank, and before the pump. that should only leave a couple feet of line suspect. I would replace that length of line and use a standard slip-on/hose clamp connection @ the tank for the suction line.

I will try that and see if it solves the problem thanks for the advice . Randy

dropped the tank and replaced both the plastic pick up return and suction lines , started putting fuel back in the tank could not get a steady flow until the level got to 5/8 looks to me like the problem is the pickup tube in the new tank unit I bought must have a split in it . I guess I will have to drop the tank again. the Autozone manager(where I bought it) thinks it could not be a bad unit but that is all I have left to check . Randy
