I'm new to the cummins world (only 16) i've finally saved my money and purchased the love of my life a 1993 Dodge 5-speed 4 wheel drive, but it has some high miles, 312,000 I've already tweaked the pump:-laf but i'd like a little more power, and lots of smoke, But would a fuel pin hurt a motor with that many miles any suggestions would be very helpful, thanks

93' CTD tweaked pump straight pipe existing in front of tire, 5 in. MBRP tip, custom air intake:D

Hi there, youngster! Welcome to TDR and the diesel world! :-laf

Mileage doesn't mean much to these engines. I have a buddy that had one with 475k on it, and he ran it hard. Do you have guages? If not, I would strongly suggest at least an EGT, (Exhaust Gas Temp) and a boost guage before you turn it up more. Then you can see how hot it is getting and how hard it's working.

You can grind your fuel pin, it's alot cheaper than buying one. If you look in the stickies at the top of the page there are a lot of hop up tips.

I got some injectors that will help with the smoke- honed out marine jobs. Even with my stage 4 turbo, I can lay a cloud and block traffic behind me.

Welcome to the TDR. I'll add to the list of necessities a fuel pressure gauge.

Daniel

no i don't have any gauges, but i'll be sure to at least do a egt gauge before any other upgrades, do you have any more info on those marine injectors, gotta get some more money saved up (workin on a budget:-laf) Anymore info on a fuel pressure gauge ,sounds important. i've tried to include a picture of the truck, Thanks

Very Nice Truck! well i guess im not the young blood anymore. oh well. :D

i was 16 when i got my truck too. welcome to life :-laf lifes just better behind the wheel of these trucks.

if you havnt got a FSM (factory service manual) yet, thatd be the first thing i would buy. you can get them at Geno's garage for bout $90-100. mine has payed it self off well over a dozen times already. their worth their weight in gold. trust me.

where you located at? dont see to much rust on the body. looks good.

Thank you all, i just ordered a "FSM" from geno's garage, probably one of my better moves, i'm located in south Jersey but the truck originates from tennesse, i bought the truck from a welder in Maryland, when i got the truck it was stuck in fifth gear and when we got out the trans it was cracked in three places (made for a very fun week) i finally found one in michigan out of a salvage truck. But the body has no rust, besides on the top of the roof around the rain gutter. But all better now

Keep an eye on that rain gutter, or get it fixed, as the roofs like to rust out on you. I had to replace my cab because of that rusted through.

Nice truck with many more miles to go.

Welcome

I agree the exhaust temp is a must for safety and you will enjoy knowing the boost. So guages first and record what they run at so you will know the effect of changes made. Cheap power if you live in the right place is remove the muffler and replace with straight pipe. You will feel this one and have a little more noise. Then pump adjustments per/stickies above you or a good pump shop can do these. Looking back I wish I had done a fuel pressure guage and 4 inch exhaust a long time ago. :)
