Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) fuel plate delete/ homemade plate modifications

I've heard of people not running a fuel plate at all. what effect does this have?tons of smoke,more power what??? and what about guys doing their own grinding on their plate for a homemade version I watched someone atctual take a grinder to theirs. what are the pros and cons of doing this,I'm always looking at ways of picking up a little more power for cheap!!

please someone please educate me on these two things.

I made a homemade plate and I have a #12. I took my stock one and made it look like a half moon lots of power similar to a #10 not sure what year truck you have. I put my 12 in for the summer the other one I think would be to hot to pull with. Go to my readers rigs I have a sketch on there.

So your homemade plate would be used for pulling only,I take it it's not very streetable. I kept my stock plate its somewhere. I'D like to try some thing like what you did. thanks for the info!!

It's very streetable I could have tried sliding it back but I like the #12 for pulling our camper. It was fun to drive had a nice curve. It could be mild or wild you control it with you right foot. But watch the egt gauge especially wot in 5th gear. It was disapointing going back to the 12 after the homemade one.

Homeground Plate

I ground my stock plate completely flat. It is very fun to drive now. Plenty of smoke but is easily controled by the star wheel. Kinda hard on the clutch though and EGTs can get pretty hot.

Is that the same as a 0 plate?

If you are grinding a stock plate you have to be carefull not to get too close to the rivets. I ground mine down even with the top of the plate. Flat is same as 0.
