I have a 02 HO and just got westach gauges today, where do I mount the fuel pressure sending unit? and where do I connect the fuel part of the unit to?

Thanks:confused:

I have a Westach installed on my 01. Don't mount it directly to the VP44 as mine was affected by engine vibration when I mounted it there (became erratic after a few hundred miles).

I went to a pneumatics shop and had them make up a 3' hose (using fuel grade hose) with 1/8" NPT fittings on each end. Connected one end to the VP44 by removing the schraeder (Sp?) valve (get the replacement Banjo bolt from Geno's. It is tapped to receive a male 1/8" NPT fitting. Run the hose up over the left fender well and connect it to the sender. I used a couple of wire ties to clamp the sender to something convenient up there. This setup has been trouble free for over two years.

NOTE: If you change your own fuel filters, I found it works better to bleed this new hose, up by the sender, to get all the air out of the lines after a filter change... Have fun... :)

I did basicly the same thing as RJOL but I used a flexible hose for a grease gun 18" long and tie wraped the sender to a convient location other than the engine to avoid vibration.

I mounted mine behind the intake manifold. I took a piece of flat aluminum 1/8" thick X 1&1/2" wide & bent it like an L. I drilled a hole in one end & placed it under the dipstick & replaced the bolt with a longer one going through both the dipstick & the newly fabbed bracket. I also put double sided tape under the bracket. On the other end I filed 2 grooves on the sides of the bracket as wide as the hose clamp I used next to secure the sender to the bracket. I also put foam pipe insulation between sender & clamp/bracket. As for hook up I purchased a tapped banjo from Genos Garage & replaced the schrader fitting at the VP44. Next I took a 90 degree 1/8" npt street elbow & put that in the tapped banjo. Next I ran a grease gun hose 12 or 18" to the sender with a double female fitting on the end. Home Depot had everything but the tapped banjo. I hope this helps.

Piers has a fitting/hose kit that hooks directly into the schrader valve on the VP44. just remove the core and hook up. comes with 20 inches of hose. on the sender end you have to get a female barbed fitting to attach to the sending unit. I think there's a good argument to mount the sending unit away from the vibrations of the engine.
