Archived Fuel pressure fluctuation

Start engine and have 14 psi, after 30-45 seconds pressure drops to 5 psi,fuel pump changes pitch like restricted flow. have vulcan relocate kit and have had no problems until now. Disconnected suction side of pump and plumbed hose to can of diesel,3 bump cycles to prime and after 10 bump cycles and it maintains 13 psi each bump cycle. any thoughts???

I also agree with Bob. AND, what your are describing is exactly how all my Carter lift pumps began failing (even after I had relocated mine with the Vulcan kit). After 4 Carter pumps I went with a FASS HPFP (Airdog makes a similar unit) and haven't had any troubles since (about 4 years now).
