I know that Steve St. Laurent has posted the way that he installed his fuel pressure gauge, I need to know the easiest way to do it on a 2001. I'm beginning to be worried about lift pump failures and I have the gauge on the way, so I would like to be prepared when the gauge gets here so that I can install it. Thanks for all of your help

I just finished installing mine. I put the sending unit in the fuel pressure test port fitting(inlet). This is the one on the side of the fuel filter. Take the protector cap off and un-swrew the value core. (just like on a tire's value stem. You will need to buy a adapter fitting( Aeroquip 2242-2-4s )to go between the test port and the sending unit. Do not use teflon tape on the fittings. This will prevent a good ground for the sending unit. Once installed the wire connection stud is real close to the dip stick, so I put a protective boot over the stud. Run your wire to the inside of cab and hook to guage. If you can't find the adapter E-mail me and I will give you a phone # where I bought mine(phone # is at work). ups is cheaper than fuel and my time. Hope this helps.

the best setup is 4 parts

4an union with swivel
4an plug
nitrous works or NOS test port 4an hose end to 4an female with a 1/8 inch test port
The fourth part is only necessary to spa gauges brass street elbow with gasket sealing surface on the female side(allows douty gasket on spa to seal very well)

Those are the four parts, it works well, the swivel allows you to put the sending unit at any angle
also use a light coating of "gas-oila" pipe dope on all the threads,
check with Bigsaint, he has this exact setup, at least untill the stock fuel lines are junked

Another tip... especially if you're using an SPA guage like I did.

I ended up using two fittings rather than one since my local shop didn't have a one-piece equivelent to the Aeroquip part (which is a -4AN to an 1/8" NPT if memory serves).

Do yourself a favor and get yours in two pieces also... the AN fitting for the back of the filter, and the NPT fitting in 90-deg form. This will give you enough room to tighten the screw that holds the wiring harness to the pressure sender. Mine isn't 90-deg so I don't have room to tighten the screw, so it keeps vibrating loose. I'm going to have to go back and get a 90-deg fitting and redo it.

Also, when I first put mine on, it leaked every so slightly. I called Ron @ SPA and he said to use Teflon tape on the fitting where it was leaking. I did, and it hasn't leaked since.

I mounted my sender on a small bracket screwed to the flat plate next to the hood hinge because I didn't know how well it would hold up with the vibration from the engine. I used a 1/4 JIC to 1/8 pipe fitting on the fuel pump test port and 1/8" gauge tubing to the sender. Works great.

ian wait until the meeting and we could hook you up with a spa ??????? well if you want fuel press in the cab, you should mount the press port you have at the bottom of the fuel filter housing (bottom of bowl) then you get the post fuel filter press and dont have the press fluctuations you get if directly at the injector pump
email me or call i will detail more

So is the valve core in the filter housing the same size as one in a tire? Do I just need to go to the auto parts store and buy a valve stem removal tool or is there another way to do it? Thanks for all of you guys' help with the adapter fittings. I have those sitting here waiting on the gauge and pillar replacement.

I used the same set up as JohnB, I used a JIC fitting available from Parker Hydraulics(will mail you one for cost if you want) with a hose running to the sending unit, which I mounted with a custom-made bracket to the little tab on the driver's side battery. You definitely do not want to mount the sending unit directly to the Schraeder valve, too much vibration, too much leveraged weight against the fittings...
Yes, the valve core is the same size as the one for tires, just like the one you used as a kid to let the air out of cop's tires when they were parked at Dunkin donuts.
Definitely pleased with my results, the gauge works great, the peace of mind is well worth it.

Well I got my Intellitronix installed last night and guess what? I have 2 psi at idle, 1 psi at 65 mph and ZERO psi @ WOT. So, now I need a good aftermarket fuel pump. YEAH! Anyways, any of you guys know if I can get a good pump from the auto parts store or something. I know that I can get one from Summit but I was kind of hoping that I couls hurry up and get one in as soon as possible. I don't want to lose that injector pump.
