As you can see by my number of posts, I am new to this board. I have seen discussions about fuel pressure gauges and I have some questions. Why do you want to monitor the fuel pressure? What should the pressure be on a stock engine? Whos gauge do you recommend for our applications? Thanks for any and all info that you may give. I have learned alot from this board. Hope to be "bombing" soon. Mike

The main reason to monitor fuel pressure on the Rams is the problem with the lift pumps, there is about 1,000 posts regarding these POS pumps which are prone to failure. Its also good to take a reading before and after the fuel filter so you will know when your fuel filter is getting plugged. As far as gauges, other TDR members can list what they use. Autometer makes electric and Mechainically isolated versions. There are digital versions out too.

Welcome to the forums Mike! Here's a couple of posts to look at for reasons to have a fuel pressure gauge: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum5/HTML/001162.html and https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum11/HTML/000050.html . The primary reason is to be sure your lift pump ($130 from Cummins) is still operating properly - if it isn't then your expensive injection pump ($1300-$2500 depending on where you buy it) will be starved for fuel which it uses for cooling and lubrication and can die. Here's a post I did on how I installed mine - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/002205.html . If you install dual senders you can also monitor the condition of your fuel filter with it - it REALLY helped me the last few days dealing with my bad fuel problem. If you do a search on "Lift Pump" you will get around 90 threads with different info on lift pump failures.
