Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Pressure Gauge

I got an autometer electric fp gauge and I need to install it as soon as possible and Im not quite sure where to install the sender. The only instructions I have are the ones that came with the guage and it just says to install the sender into the fuel system. Im thinking " well no s&$!" but I have no clue exactly where. Should it be somewhere on the side of the VP44 or at the filter or what. Please explain in detail as Im a novice at this stuff. Pictures would be great. Thanks in advance!

I put mine on the shreider valve on the vp44 when I had banjo bolts. Later I put it inline between the vp and the fuel filter when I switch to an fittings.

If the sender is anything like mine, it should really be installed on the fuel line going into the pump by means of a "T", you tend to get more accurate readings, the shrader tends to limit flow and doesnt give you true readings since it runs through such a small orifice from the shrader, but just my opinion. hope that might help

I used a Drilled and tapped Banjo bolt from Geno's Garage. It had a 1/8 Pipe thread, and I used a Grease Gun hose from NAPA to hook it up to my sender. The sender I mounted to a Moose Fabricated bracket that picks up a mount bolt for the Brake Master Cylinder.

I too have an Autometer Elec. FP Guage, model 4361?? Any way, I used an 18" section of grease gun hose screwed into the top of the filter housing in the test port closest to the VP, aka Post Filter. This 18" hose is then connected to the sending unit which I wire tied just above the master cylinder. The hose acts as a snubber to take the sharp spikes out of the reading which seem to tend to kill the elec. sending units. 4 years, no failures.

Upgrade your line between the filter and VP to 3/8" and splice it in there. That way your sender is out of the way and you know what the VP is being fed.
