Will an oil pressure gauge work as a fuel presure gauge, I have an almost new VDO gauge and sender that I would like to use.
Thanks
John

Deezel, thats exactly what I've had in my rig for the past four years, works great. I found one with a 40 psi gauge, which is nice because the needle sits in the middle of the scale most of the time. Most oil pressure gauges are 80 psi so you won't get as fine of a reading but they will work. I also installed another sender on my intake manifold along with a SPDT switch next to the gauge, so I have boost and fuel pressure on the same gauge(that says oil pressure at the bottom!),saves some dash space, but again a 40 psi gauge is best.

I'm about to install an Autometer electric fuel pressure gauge (0-15 p. s. i. ). There is a test port on the fuel filter of my ETH that looks like a good place to install the sender. Most gauge manufacturers do not recommend mechanical pressure gauges in the cabin, unless it's hooked to a pressure isolater.

Deezel,I was going to mount the sender on the test port on the fuel filter outlet, but was concerned about vibration also,as the sender is rather top heavy and it seemed like it needed at least a 45 elbow for clearance. If you follow the outlet line from the fuel filter to the injection pump you will see the banjo fitting and bolt on the injection pump. I removed the bolt, drilled& tapped a 1/8 NPT port into the top of the bolt, deburred it very well, used antiseize on the sender(no teflon tape)then cleaned that sucker about ten times before screwing it back in as one unit. I was going to buy another banjo bolt to keep in the glove box in case the sender ever broke off, but never got around to it,four years no problem. The turbo boost sender I mounted on the firewall with tubing from the manifold(barely enough room for a compression fitting let alone a sender),you could also do that with the fuel sender,a grease gun hose(most are 1/8 NPT) would work well from the port on the filter to the firewall. Greg,I'm not sure 15 psi is enough,my fuel pressure is between 20-25 psi,but it's a'95 and newer models very well could be lower.
