I have the SPA, which I really like, set up post filter, at the bottom of the OEM fuel filter canister. I was using the pre-filter Schrader test port before I upgraded my lines and it's now interesting to see the difference of the psi's post filter. The SPA is not cheap, at about $235. 00 each, but you get two gauges with the SPA, my lower is used for the rear diff. temp. If you are going to use the SPA's, I would purchase from Nowel (HVAC) at the link below.
I am considering installing a fuel pressure guage also. I just looked up Summit's selection and found a 0-30 psi model, SUM-800130 and wonder if this is the preferred one to use? I probably will stick with a stock pump, for now anyway, unless it goes out later and I find a better one is available. If that happens It may have a different pressure,,(higher) . If I install this, what other items are needed to complete the install? Not sure if this is an electronic guage, with a sensor mounted remotely... Seems that would be best. Thanks in advance for any reply. .
Well the article in the TDR talked about needing a 4-an to 1/8npt with both being female and about a foot and a half or so of hose. So I had one made now I'm just waiting for the gauge and sending unit to come in and see how it works. Going to attach to the valve fitting on the injector pump to read lift pump pressure after filter... ... ... ... ... Pete
It think a better place is to insert one of Ray's modified tapped banjo's in place of the one at the bottom of the fuel filter. This will give you post filter readings, additional snubbing, and you will retain the factory Schraders in case the dealer needs to verify low pressure readings.
Dresslered, I know your right but the test port that the dealer uses is after the filter and basicly takes a reading right at the pump, besides I went around town today and got the line made 4-AN female on one end and 1/8NPT female on the other... ... ..... Pete
The bottom fuel filter banjo is post filter as well and the additional distance from the injector pump will offer some more additional snubbing without sacrificing the pressure readings. A simple 90-degree 1/8" NPT male to -4AN male (Jeg's for $2. 99) will allow you to use your custom fuel line.
I discussed in another post that in "my opinion" the stock Schraders do not have adequate surface area to act as a reliable, permanent mate to a -4AN fitting. The stock Schrader has a 45-degree flange where the -4AN has a 37-degree flange. This would normally be accomidating, however, look at the surface area on the Schrader-yech! Just an opinion.
