15 days ago +- I installed Westach FP Gauge. Upon completion of FP Gauge I noticed low FP. Took truck to dealer for new Lift Pump & it was covered under the Cummins Warranty. This morning on the way to work I noticed my FP was running around 15-16 PSI, a little higher than normal for cruising... . Typically around 13 PSI+-.

After work today got in truck & truck was running like starved for fuel... Looked at gauge 7 had 1-3 PSI. Limped truck home & went to the dealer & he said likelihood of LP going bad in 15 days after being replaced with new model LP was low. Took truck home & replaced fuel filter (looked OK) & now while trying to get my lift pump to cycle I get nothing. I can't even get the lift pump to cycle... . Sounds like lift pump to me I guess!

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a fuse for the lift pump?

Planned on taking my truck into Dynamite Diesel Technology tomorrow to get dyno ed, but not looking Good at this point.

FP gauge is mounted on the discharge side of the filter.

Thanks, Clay

Clay, sounds like a bad lift to me too, under warrentee, take it to the dealer, I mean let them come and get it ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... donot try to drive it.

Most likely what the dealer will do is to put air in the tank to force feed the pump so they can then get some psi readings... ... ... ... ... . go figger

good luck, Kevin

What type Fuel pressure gauge . And where is the gauge line or sender mounted ? If the gauge was mounted on the top of the filter it may have bin shaken to death . Mounting the sender or gauge off the motor is advised . Do fill the can first with clean diesel and bleed the lines . When you first turn the switch to light up the wait to start and other lights on the dash do you get a movement of the gauge to psi then back to _0 ? Watch the gauge and bump the starter . Crack the fuel lines to the injector and to three injector lines look for fuel and if present with air tighten after bumping to point of no more bubbles . Tighten and then crank , May take some time to get it to run . Give a try and if no go have it fix under the warranty . Hope this helps . Ron in Louisville KY:confused:   :D PS look in the power control box under the hood for a relay for the pump . You can switch them around it check the relays are all the same.

FP problem solved?

Apparently the power cord to LP was the problem. See my post in 24 valve forum for complete story. Thanks all for the input!!
