what is your guys opinion on fuel pressure guages. i like mechanical they are more exact, but electric are way easyer to install. but what is better, pre filter or post filter for monitoring pressure? what do you think is better to monitor?
 
I prefer electric, but you have to protect the sender from vibrations and CP3 pulses. A flexible grease gun hose will keep it safe from vibrations by mounting it away from the engine, and a snubber will keep pulses from taking out the sender.

You can get a tapped banjo bolt from Geno's Garage and install it on the bottom of the filter canister, then install a snubber, followed by the grease gun hose, and finally the sender. I also used a Tee before the sender as a way to bleed air from the line.
 
I prefer post-filter; when the pressure drops it's time to change the filter.

The aluminum fuel filter canister cap from Geno's is nice and well made (I have one), but it's also kinda pricey and not necessary for a FP gauge.
 
i have never used an isolator before. what do you fill the line to the guage with? is it hard to bleed air out? i am also thinking of addint he guage to the steering coloum. has anyone here done that with a mech FP guage? and with a electric sender do i need that "snubber" for the 06?
 
I moniter post filter at the CP3 inlet with a banjo bolt. Same reason as mentioned I can tell when to change my filter.



I am using an Isspro mechanical gauge for reliability... it seems like people have hit and miss luck with the electric.



I got all my gauges and install kit from Diesel Manor. They give you great instruction on where to mount the isolator, and since I used the dash top pod set up they state if the run from the isolator to the gauge is less than 3 (three) feet you can use air in the line. If it is longer they tell you to use coolant I believe and you can leave a little air in the line they say to help dampen pressure spikes.



I have had my set-up for about 6 months now without issue. , works great.
