OK, this is the situation. I noticed on my way home today that my FP was lower than normal. I'm usually around 18-20 at idle and 16 cruising(I'm running the Carter pusher pump). I was down around 10-12 this afternoon cruising home. I watched it for awhile and it never went below 10. I mashed the pedal a few times and the pressure went back up... . When I went back to cruising it dropped back to 10-12. When I got off the highway it went right to 19 at idle but dropped down again when driving(10-12). I tried the "mash" test again and pressure went up until I let off the pedal. I'm going to try a new fuel filter tomorrow morning and see what happens. I have about 7k on the current filter. I just got fuel yesterday from the same truck stop I always do. Never had a problem before. Any sugestions would be appreciated. TIA

Just had some trbl. like that with a FASS unit. I replaced my gas cap and the problem seems to be solved, so far. So if changeing the filters dosent fix it maybe check the cap or the vent on the fuel sending unit, on the top of the fuel tank, to make sure its not plugged. This might not be it but its an easy check before you go and replace stuff

Lower fuel pressures

 I to have been experiencing the same problems with my FASS system. Had a call into Brad however, no response as of yet. Pump seems to surge, pressures idleing--9. 5-10. 2, full fuel- 6. 7-8. 5psi. Pressures constantly fluctuate on the low side. Any suggestions? Maybe time to get ride of the FASS and go a different route?

Well, I drove in this morning and everything was normal  . I'm going to put in the filter anyway and check the vent and cap. Thanks for the help.

I forgot to add that my trbl. was only at a 1/2 full tank or more. After I got past a 1/2 tank everything was normal

Problem solved. I replaced the fuel filter and unhooked the pusher pump. The lift pump on the motor would not fill the bowl. I installed a new lift pump and all is well. :) Thanks again for the suggestions.

Cummins or Dodge or both should feel a real sense of shame for allowing a simple $150. 00 LP to completely ruin the reliability of an otherwise great pick-up. Ever notice how this LP/VP44 subject completely dominates the 2nd generation threads. . as far as problems go??

I'm not sure that the VP44 is the greatest design in injector pumps... but believe it would work fine with a steady supply of clean fuel. Why was that overlooked in the '98 to '02 trucks? Is this the bean counters at work... again. Man this is frustrating!!!

i have a similar prob, but mine goes to the high side, ive seen 20-25 psi after about 30 min of stop and go driving, but on the highway it falls back to normal(16psi)

im going to look at the tank vent and possibly a gas cap. i have seem some pressure in the tank when i undo the cap, im guessing this is not normal.

Replaced the fuel filter the other week/ month now. Was very clean and not worth changing. Always but clean fuel it is cheaper in the long run. Keeps the loading off the pump.

Make sure the FASS has an adequate fuel SUPPLY. You could make a new standpipe for it. I plumbed the return from the back of the head BACK into the FASS fuel pump with a tee on the fuel return line. When the FASS needs extra fuel, it can take it from the return.
