Only if you snag it on the block and pull it out while removing the old pump. I've never had a problem with it.

When I ordered the new fuel pump I got the heater strainer thing and a new short pre bent hose. Where the heck does the hose go?

Pretty sure it's item 12 when I changed mine last.

When is the last time you changed fuel filter ?
If it has been a while change it. You also could of picked up a large or more pieces of dirt.
I was having problems with large pieces of dirt im my filter. Which made it hesitate . I would feather the pedal , by the time a went a block it was fine. Changed filter every thing good for a while then another piece of dirt this time when it acted up I pushed the pedal down. That took care of it. What really fixed the problem I started to fuel up at another station. No problems. I did have another problem (actually two) my hose from the heater to the pump had cracks in which kept the engine running . I would prime it and would run until the filter ran out fuel. I got a light on things and saw the cracks on the hose. Tried to find after market one but no luck. Had to buy one from Dodge for $40 bucks. Also had the engine die on me quite a few months ago. Thought it was hole in pick up tube. Turned out the back tank strap had broke and the filler hose that connects to the tank had a developed a slight leak which turned into a big leak. Took it to my mechanic who fixed it. Now the accerlator linkage has to be fixed. (A ball/ stud that fits into a cup like thimg came out . The other end of ( front of engine) looks like it will be popping off soon. So I am going to try to find replace ments. Ace has something like them but only has standard. But I am not complaining. I very happy , one they have 372,000 +miles on them and it popped off a mile from business very early in the morning and I was able to letit idle in 1rst then 2nd the 3rd. I believe I was doing 15 mph. I think a fast moving turtle could of beat to my business.
