I am preparing to purchase and install PRICOL OPTIX gauges in my truck. I am only going to mount three gauges; Boost 0-60 psi, EGT and …

I had a fuel pressure gauge in my 2001 ETH, but are they still required in CR engines? If so at what HP level are they recommended or is it required, stock? If I BOMB my engine it will not be to a silly level, I will keep it sane at 450 or so HP with a SMARTY S06 or TST PowerMaxCR. As far as towing, I tow a 12,000 lb fifth wheel two dozen times a year to the Smoky Mtns and Florida.

My 2001 ETH obviously had the six speed manual (DEE), therefore transmission temperature was not a concern.

So, what would be the best selection for the third gauge? Fuel Pressure or Transmission Temperature.

I don't have an auto but both are pretty important at 450hp levels. If you plan on keeping the fuel system stock, I would say fp. If you will tow a lot, I'd say trans. Trans is a lot more expensive to replace, so you might want to go with it for now and add another pod for more guages later which could include the fp guage.

I still have the stock lift pump and I can pull fp down to 4-4. 5 with tst on 4. This is with the 5 micron baldwin fuel filter.

Why don't you do what I did? I have a 3 hole gauge pod with five (5) gauges in it. Neat trick, right?

No, I just bought the Westach dual scale gauges from Geno's. I have fuel pressure 0-30 single gauge, easy to read. Dual gauge for EGT & Boost. Again, easy to read because you get used to the needle positions and a quick glance tells all. Dual temp gauge for the transmission and cylinder head temp.

I really want it to be rear axle/transmission temp, but that isn't how my boy wired it up. Kind of neat though, I have a backup gauge for the engine temp that reads out in 10*F increments at 190-200-210, etc...

3 holes, 5 gauges.
