As advised on my earlier post (99 vs 01. 5 milage &performance) i checked my fuel presures. . i used an old a/c gage hose hooked to a hiese gage(a $7000 computerised presure reading device used for callibrating presure trsnsducers & such,it calibrated yearly to 1% of 1psi)anyway here are the results:

pre filter: idle 15. 00 psig 2500rpm 12. 75psig

post filter: idle 14. 75 psig 2500 rpm 11. 80psig

what do you think about those numbers???

with less than a 1 psi drop shuld i look @ the fuel filter??

what are the specs anyway??

uncle joe

Anything above 10 psi at idle is OK according to Dodge. I prefer more than that. You need to test fuel pressure under load or you won't get an accurate reading. Hope this helps.

Great, so ZERO psi under load is a nice sight to see

Only if you are a repair shop and the truck is out of warrany and on the back of a tow truck!!!!!!:D :p ;)

Does anyone have a manual or fact sheet that indicates what a minimum pressure value should be under what load and rpm?

My '99 maintenance manual doesn't have that information. Without it, I don't think there's any pressure data that I can give to a dealer that they'll accept indicating a failure other than being below 10 psig.

Only thing I found in my manual for a WOT condition was a vacuum test with no load. Are there any official numbers that one can hang their hat on?

Did a dynamic test yesterday:

climed a stiff hill from a stop @ wot the lowest i saw was 8. 6 psi for a slight second but the avarage is over 10 psi,how about it???

Sounds good Joe, 10 PSI at WOT under load is about as good as you can expect without modifying the fuel system. I got a good laugh at the longer hose crack too.
