Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Pressure Sending Unit

I would like to know why I have not seen anyone mount their sending unit directly to the top of the filter housing. All of the pictures I have found show it located a few inches away.

I mounted mine (both sides to check before and after filter) using 45 degree extensions so that the sending units would not hit together.

I mean mounted to the top of the stock filter housing.

If the sender it connected directly to the engine vibrations will kill many senders in short order. Best to isolate the sender with a short length of hose.
