I have been running a low fuel pressure sending units off of the Modified Banjo Bolt that will activate a small light in my A-piller when the fuel pressure drops for several months now, and now it has died.

Since the search is down, I have to ask all over again. What are the types of low pressure sending units are you guys running?

NOS makes one that is set at 5 psi and is normally open, but its $35. 00, just wanted to see if there was something else I might have missed.

I have been running a fuel pressure switch for a few years. A good quality switch can be found at MSC.

Their web site is: www.mscdirect.com

Nason makes the adjustable switch I am using:

Part number for 1. 5 to 5 psi: 56499064

Part number for 6 to 15 psi: 56499072

There is also a fixed, 4 psi pressure switch, part number 56499007, and fixed 10 psi; 56499015

Do a search using the part numbers above.

A couple of years ago I was convinced that any fuel pressure above 0 was OK so I bought the 1. 5 to 5 psi switch and set it to sound an alarm at 2 psi. I have now reset the switch for 5 psi and with my new lift pump, never see pressure below 5. :)

Just one last note, these pressure switches have both a normally open contact and a normally closed contact and a male 1/8 NTP pressure connection. All are less than $30.

15w40--Thanks, I ordered up the static 4psi switch--that will be fine for my application. I really appreciate your help with the website and the part numbers--you made it very easy. Thats the greatest thing about this board--the Cooperation:)

rashwor, what some of us did was to install a small light in our A-pillers ie... Radio Shack small L. E. D. --then wire in a sending unit from a "Tapped Banjo Bolt" on the injection pump, then when the fuel pressure dropped to a predetermined level, the light would come on, and thus advise us that the lift pump maybe suspect.

For me it was easier than installing another guage that I wouldn't watch after 1 month, and a lot less $$$$---as I don't care what my fuel pressure is, as long as it is at least 4 psi at WOT under full load.

Hope this helps.

That is what I am thinking of doing, but I am not much of an electrician, so I was wanting fairly detailed instructions / suggestions. Thanks. :D

Here is what I did:

Find "Keyed" hot and run lead to one side of sending unit (normally open) then run the wire from other side of sending unit to L. E. D. or small light (Radio Shack) don't have receipt from my light, and ground the other side of light, and that's all there is to it. Except for drilling a small hole in the A-piller--the light container will tell you what size the bulb holder is, so just get close. Light stays out as long as fuel pressure is higher then the preset sending unit, it will flicker when it gets close, and come on bright when your pressure really drops--I wish I could send you a picture of my a-piller, but I can't post one here, but I will email you one.

If you use the normally closed contact, the LED will light when the pressure is low. I find this is a good self-test for the pressure switch because the LED will light on start-up if you wait for the lift pump to cycle. With the engine running after a start, the LED should not come on except if the fuel pressure is low.

Wasn't there a Clint Eastwood movie: "I don't need no stinkin guages. "

If anyone is interested, the SPA gauge has this feature built right in. You can choose a low psi value from the display. I have the SPA generic press/temp. gauge. My low warning is set at 6 psi's right now.

a regular lamp will work fine as mentioned but if you plan on using the LED then you will need to use a voltage drop resistor also available at radio shack. but as Scott said SPA has that feature built in that you can as well hook up to an audio device as well a light
