Guys, I came across this kit offered by North West Fuel Injection. This co. held a seminar which I attended . I manage a fleet of school busses of which most all employ the 5. 9 engine. I have yet to install said kit because the school is the one who would have to pay for it. I have to convince them we would save money if it meant saving a VP.

Kit includes; fuel fittings, wire harness, warning light, pressure sending unit. All for the amazing low price of $68. 00. Call 800-771-3835

Any idea what psi it's set to go off?

Seems like even with "normal" operating pressures it could be going off quite often unless the trigger point is set quite low.

It seems like a gauge for about the same money would be a better idea. I guess if others drove your truck a lot (who could think of such a thing) it might be a good idea.

Light is amber in color and dime size

Do not know what psi is used to trigger light.

I asked if this kit could be used to monitor the engine in the Dodge trucks. Was informed that this is what it was intended for originally.

I have nine 24v engines in my bus fleet and have lost two lift pumps. One with 96K, another with 16K. The former lost power, the latter I located during a filter change.

Make your own, get a LED with built in resistor and a single terminal oil pressure sender and wire to ignition on, done. I probably have the part numbers for AutoZone and Radio Shack around here, costs less than $10 in parts.

Wish I could take credit but I got the basic idea off the TDR from another member

Low Fuel Pressure light

The Dakota digital fuel pressure gauge I have has a built low pressure setting that is adjustable, when the pressure drops to the set point the display flashes. Works for me

:D

With an idiot light you don't really know what has gone wrong when it comes on, lift pump or plugged filter. Unless you're going to throw parts at the problem you're going to need a gauge anyway.

Ditto on what DShuart said. I set my Dakota Digital to flash when the pressure drops to 8 psi or lower. Works great.

True enough, I have both, and carry a mechanical gauge under the seat to check pre/post filter so I can tell whick is bad.

Question, how can you tell from the gauge reading whether the LP is failing *OR* the filter is clogging  Low pressure is low pressure. You still have to raise the hood to check each component. What is your point?

If you cant afford a gauge setup an idiot light is much better than nothing!
