ok i got a 2001 speed with edge drag,fass 150,draw strawII,hrvp... my fuel pressure at idle is 19 i can get it down to 8 is this ok or is it to low?? what can i do to get more pressure??

Something is not right here. Do you have an HPFP or FASS? Im guessing HPFP by the fuel pressure at idle you are seeing. Have you check your gauge to see if its reading correctly? We see a TON of gauge issues that cause this... . especally if you have an isolator... ...



BUT you also might check the prefilter we send with the HPFP's. Change it or clean it. This could also cause your issue. Stock fuel filter plugging up can also do this as well.



Let me know what you find and we will go from there.....

i got the FASS 150 GPH Pump Kit 98. 5-04 Dodge Cummins and the draw straw 2 because i had the intake pump... so u think it is my guage??? is so what cani do to find out... it is an electrical guage. so right now my truck dosent have a lift pump right?? just the fass pump can i put a stock lift pump back on it to make it better or do you think its the guage?? thanks 4 all the input!!!

Change out your fuel filters

Check the both fuel filters like they said above & check the gauge... . The FASS will do the job just fine - alone.

ok so changed my regular fuel filter then hooked a mechiancal guage up on it at idle its has 19 1/2 psi and i can get it down to 10 psi is this ok or not??i am thinking about getting a mechaincal gauge will it be ok to mount in the cab or should i mount it on the hood???thanks

At these pressures you are fine as far as your VP goes. BUT your pressure drop is on the big side at WOT. Call your dealer with your SN and have them contact me for some other options... ... .

With all our wnty issue, we hold our dealers accountable for their customers and run all our wnty through our dealer network. I ask that you contact your dealer because i feel we might need to send a pump out to you because i don't like the pressures you are seeing at WOT. This all pending on the wnty status of your unit. ok dan got my new pump put it on changed both filters and this pump is just like my old 1 this 1 idles at 18ish and drops to 9 easy hooked up 2 diffrent guages same readings... what do i need to do?? thanks

seth did you ever have rock solid pressure with your draw straw? just wondering if it is plugging itself on the bottom of the tank.

do you mean just like at idle? or do you mean its dosent drop at take off?? but its is cut at the angle and i took it out yesterday and put it in again. .

Well... . I'm going to speak out of turn before i get your old pump back here in house to inspect... . but I'm leaning toward something outside of the pump now causing your pressure drop. Mainly restriction.



I know you have checked your filters and such…but can you tap pressure before the engine mounted fuel filter? (Between the HPFP and Filter)



How are you checking for pressure? Banjo fitting? Filter head? I have seem some schrader(SP?) valves cause restrictions if the core was not pulled…. . makes the gauge act “Lazy”.



I find these fittings work best:

i checked it with a banjo fitting with a mechanical guage and my my electrical guage ... so does that Mr. Gasket ''Barb'' Fuel Pressure Gauge Fittings - JEGS just cut your fuel line and tap that in to it with a mechanical guage? i dont know i am just frustraded ... like i said i had the whole fuel tank out again saturday removed the draw straw cleaned out the tank and checked 4 pinches and put new filter and the new pump on still nothing??? i just dont know... also where do i send my old fass pump back 2 i got a rma number just didnt know the address??thanks let me know

ok sounds like a plan i will ship the pump out this afternoon or 1st thing in the a. m i will just wait for you to inspect the pump see if there is anything wrong with it if not them we will go from there... with the jegs fitting will my fuel pressure sensor work or will i need to get a mechinal guage??thanks

If your sending unit supplies its own ground via the harness, then yes... it will work just fine. Most gauges are setup this way. BUT if the gauge, for some reason, doesn’t work then you may need to attach a grounding strap to the fitting.



Power by Poole and Vulcan Performance both have some gauge fitting as well that you might check into as well. Only reason i bring them up is because they actively support the diesel community.
