What fuel system are you running to see that psi? What is the volume per hour? (No need to go above that as of yet) So as you bomb more we might need to up the psi/volume?

We saw that much in testing a 2 pump system. At 500rwhp, the single pump system (that we now sell) was sufficient to keep the pressure up at WOT - which is the main concern. You don't want less than 6psi at the inlet at any time.

i just checked it out on the website. what kind of pump is it and the specs on it? flow, pressure etc... ... ? what does the kit consist of? looks like a good set up

The pump is 100GPH @ 17psi and will pull head. Our trucks usually see around 18psi at idle with this kit on it. The kit includes the pump, harness to plug the pump into the stock lift pump plug, hose, fittings and the adapter for the fuel filter housing.

Well I don't know if I can agree with that, in stock trim you will see less then 6psi of pressure. From what I have read on the CP3 as long as you have positive pressure their should be no problem because they are more interested in flow then pressure. As long as you have positive pressure their is flow to it. I run only and Edge EZ so it is not at the power levels you are talking, but stock fuel sytem will go do to 1 psi once and a while, usually goes to a low of 2 psi, about 7-8 crusin down the road.

Also I have heard from people that the pump you use is a little bit noisey, but haven't heard on in person? Have you tried any Carter pumps by chance? reason I ask is because I run their P4601HP on my 500hp 440 in my off road truck. It has some noise but not bad, and it is also rated at 100 gal and 14-16 psi.

The pump noise from the DD pump, is not objectionable at all. With everything so much quieter, any little noise is now heard, whereas before you didn't even care or knew it was there, over the engine.

Actually, most stock trucks will make about 9-10psi at idle. They will drop at WOT, especially with mods. We found 400hp to be the limit before needing the pump. Anything less than 6psi at the inlet to the pump results in misfiring. One might not notice it so much on a truck with just a box, but put injectors in and run the fuel pressure down and it's very noticeable.

keith,

sounds like your kit works well enough for most applications.

have you tried coupling your kit with any kind of bigger / better flowing lines between the filter can and CP3?

do you think this would result in any gain in WOT fuel pressure? or maybe just better flow so you could get by with less than 6 psi?

im just wondering if the stock line and banjos are maybe a bit restrictive at those high HP levels, causing a need for 6 psi or more to force the delivery of enough fuel

just thinkin out loud here

Kieth, if your kit is capable of moving so much more fuel than the stock pump it seems it should also require more power. Is the stock pump plug that you get your power from going to sustain this higher amperage load over a long period of time? Thanks.

David, we provide the fittings for a fuel pressure gauge with our fuel pressure gauge kit, not with the pusher pump kit.

SRadke, I would guess it pulls some more than stock, but the stock lines/fuses supported a dual pump setup we tested at one point.

My '04 has an Edge EZ and injectors on it, among other things. My X-monitor says at idle my fuel pressure is 8-9 psi. But when I get on it I hit 0 psi (fast). I don't get on it very often, so how bad is this for my fuel pump? Do I need an upgrade now, or can I wait 'til this summer? (been hitting 0 psi since I got the truck in Sept. ) Is running out of fuel limiting my hp since I'm only at 460hp on the dyno? (DYNOJET)

Lack of fuel pressure will hurt the power and may cause damage to the CP3 pump. If you have to wait to get a pusher kit, don't drive it hard enough to pull the pressure down below 6psi.

Thanks for the info. Keith. I drop below 6 psi just merging in the acceleration lane to get on the freeway. Is a pusher pump going to really be adequate for my truck and its set-up, or would I be better off just spending the extra cash to get a FAAS?

Can't comment on the FASS... we don't use/sell them and haven't tested them. Our system can support 6+psi at 500hp, so that's what we offer.

I can also pull my Fuel Pressure down to near zero with the ez on 3. Without the ez, it seems to go down to about 1 WOT. I idle at 7-8 psi. My instructions say this is normal.
