With the increased fuel prices throughout the US, and with the summer travel to far away places, you may want to check out what your fuel credit card limit(s) might be to avoid issues while traveling. Just ran into this issue and the 'old' limit (pre-present day prices!!!!!) on one of my cards created a limit that does not cover the fueling cost, if you do not watch it. On other cards I have the limit is much higher than this one, but with todays prices you can run into a limit very easy, especially with long distance traveling!

They have advised that I can request an increased limit, which I am reviewing, but you may want to check yours and minimize an unexpected surprise when fueling!!!

Of course if you use cash the only limit is what is in your wallet and how much of it they want!!!!

AAA visa gives you 5% rebate on all pay at the pump purchases. That could knock like 15 cents off per Gallon and those places in Kailifornia

I did notice once that a card I had would limit you to $50 for pay at the pump purchase

No kidding! I had this happen on a recent trip to CA and the darn machine wouldn't accept my credit card for the second time. Had to wait for my wife to get back from shopping to complete the fill up.

I always thought this was something set at the pumps... Figured they just set the pre-approval to low. I've been lucky and just put the card back in... . PITA though.

Citibank took over Credit billing, etc. for Phillips 66. They screwed me. I'm screwing them back!

I'll just use my Amex and Visa debit card!

AAA 5% Rebate

I'll second the use of the AAA card--I love that 5% rebate on my fuel statements every month (that's all I use that card for). My local station offers a one cent per gallon discount if you pay inside--I don't think so  :D

I've wondered about the multiple uses of the card--a couple of times, I've started the diesel pumping into the truck, then gone back and started the gas pumping into the Jeep on the trailer (like when passing through Georgia, where both are cheap)--never a problem.

the AAA also gives you 1% back in certificates for AAA stuff, not as powerful as the 5% but if you bought alot of gas you would get a free AAA membership also
