I have a 2001 dodge cummins six speed HO. The engine runs great in the summer but in the winter it will go into a limp mode and the motor will not rev over 1200 rpm's or make power. I think there is a problem with the ecu but not shure, any advice would be nice thanks.

Pull the codes out of the ECM and post 'em on here. If you have code P 216, we ALL know what's wrong with your truck.

Key on(Don't start it) Key off, key on, key off and one more time key on, key off.

Read the codes in the odometer display.

What do they say?

Don't know why it only happens in winter... but it isn't good. I ran for a few months with a 0216 code but eventually had to have the VP44 replaced.

has anyone had or heard of this happening to anyones rig. my rig shuts down every winter when it hits 45 or below? could it also be a problem with the boost sensor?

Mine would act up in the winter time also. Fine in the summer. New VP at the end of last winter and has been fine since.

any recomendations on the best place to get one? thanks.

It's an '01 so I guess it's out of warranty? Unless you have a dealer you can trust I'ed take it to a Cummins shop.
