i was told that for what i wanted to do with my truck i needed a boost guage a pyro guage and a fuel psi guage... . now i know what the pryo does, but what does is the benifit of measuring your boost pressure and fuel pressure?

and remember you will have to explain it in simple terms for a simple mind, still not mechanically inclined #ad

thanks guys

Fuel pressure guage tells you the condition of the lift pump. (which is the weak link in our trucks as others have pointed out. )I am going to put a switch on my guage to monitor before and after filter. To tell me when to change fuel filter. The condition of filter is better than time or miles in determine a dirty filter. )

so would the pressure on the fuel psi guage going to be the same before and after the filter and what is common psi reading?

I have mine guage on order . The diff. before and after filter will be 1-2 psi less
here is some good reading on the subject: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/001088.html
I will post my pressure when I get it installed.

I recently put up a new post on the SW fuel pressure gauge install at https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/002205.html that gives more updated info than the link above and also info on hooking it up to the stock fuel system (the first post just had info on hooking it up to a prime-loc). As far as what pressures you should see with a new lift pump I am seeing 12-14 psi at idle, 12-13 psi driving down the road, and a low of 10 psi under sustained WOT. With a new filter you shouldn't see any difference between pre and post filter (at most 1 psi), when it gets to a 5 psi difference it's time to change the filter.
