turbo questions

Have a 2004. 5 Dodge RAM 2500 Diesel, 6 speed with 28000 miles. I was driving down the highway when my truck just died. Tried starting it up and was unsuccessful. Contacted the mechanic and he ran a diagnostic test. He found that the Fuel Pump A Control was low in pressure and defective. Have any of you experienced a similar situation? Please reply... ... ... ... ...

Hmmm... never heard of a "fuel pump A control". My guess is that he was referring to the lift pump, which pumps fuel from the tank at low pressure up to the injection pump. That's not an uncommon failure, and will result in a dead engine as you describe.

If you let the dealer repair the truck they will replace your lift pump which came from the factory attached to the back of the fuel filter canister with a new design that fits inside the fuel tank (just like a gasser). If it's under warranty, this will cost you nothing.

If it's not under warranty and you're a handy person, you could consider replacing the pump yourself with one available aftermarket. There are many threads here at TDR about lift pumps and their replacement. I suggest going into the 3rd generation engine and transmission section and searching on "lift pump". You will get many results.
