Fuel pump Adjustment

On the fuel pump where the fuel "feed" is turn up or down, there is a "bolt" which has what appears to be a brasslike nut on the outside of it. Forgive me for not knowing all the proper names :( I know this is where a "friend" of mine turned up my pump and for quite some time my truck ran REAL STRONG :D well recently my truck has been "dying" and my boost has dropped from 30 to around 12, come to find out this so called "friend" had turned back down my pump, :( due to what he thought was transmission problems. (long story I am not getting into, but lets just say it has been a LONG! 4 months, I now have a newly rebuilt transmission and torque converter) Well the other day when I went to turn up the pump I found the outer brasslike nut had silicone on it, I also found out why it had silicone on it. It had been stripped out  So here is my question. Can I unsrcew that completely out and replace it, or is this a major project? My truck is a 93 D250 2WD with a Banks.

If you are referring to the full power screw? then yes you can turn all the way out. As far as getting another screw, you may have to try a local fuel injection shop. Good picture in post " power seems less with pump adjustment"

It almost sounds like you're referring to the idle adjustment--that's the long threaded rod that has a lock nut on it which acts as a stop for the throttle linkage.

This page has more details, including a diagram of the pump.
