Fuel pump gear access cover ?

I want to start the year off right and check the valve clearances. How does the fuel pump gear access cover come off? The picture in the service manual shows a ccw arrow, does this mean it screws off? If so what do you turn it with? Thanks for any advice.

Yes that cover does just screw of . Just got to get a good grip on it ,I was able to do it with just hand pressure. I checked my valve clearance last week so went through the whole procedure whilst I was changing my injectors.

Thanks Treeman I had to use a filter wrench to break it loose.

It was a waste of time, other than peace of mind, none of the valve clearances needed adj. All were within . 002 - . 003 of nominal. Truck has 89k miles.
