Do you tow with you auto transmission?

Gauges, are they worth it?

My friend has a 99 2500 CTD 4x4 with 48,000 miles on it. I was wondering if the pump is still covered under warranty. Dealers he's spoke to say its not and he's going to have to pay $800 to get a new one:eek: I know this seems to be a common problem for the 98-01 trucks and I think it should be covered under the 5yr\100,000 mile engine warranty.

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks,

Joe

I assume they are talking about the lift pump not the injection pump because dealer quotes on the injection pump are WAY higher than that. First of all it is covered under warranty - in the dealer books it's covered under the emissions warranty believe it or not (70,000 miles I believe). Second, if it is the lift pump their price is WAY too high, you can get the lift pump from Cummins for around $135 and book rate is 2. 5 hrs of labor I believe. Have your friend take his truck to a different dealer.
