Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel pump...possible 911???

Lift pump...possible 911???

Up til today I've always had about 15 psi at idle and 8 at WOT. Today I noticed after I pulled in the drive that it was bouncing between 5 and 7. When I throttle it to about 1500 RPM it goes to 5/6 and stays there. As soon as I let off the throttle it goes back to bouncing between 5 and 7 again. I didn't take it out on the road as I wanted to get some opinions first... . :{

Could be the sender but I would think L/P so keep a close eye on it, this is how my other 2 acted , On my first one it was a failure in the spillback spring and check . The second pump I havent made time to disect it yet.

When mine did the same thing I autopsied the old one. There is a drive tang between the rotor and the motor. The slot in the rotor is made of plastic. Mine had broken. I think the tang was slipping in the rotor, causing the low pressure and finally ground the plastic up.

UPDATE

First off I need to make a correction, I'm usually at 12 at idle not 15.



Secondly, I hopped in the truck this morning and it jumped right back up to 12 and acted perfect all the way to work like nothing even happened... . is this normal? A fluke?..... STILL A BAD PUMP?

when is the last time you changed the filter???---it may be a fluke, but I'd be picking up a spare in short order cuz to be prepared---or order one of the other pumps that guys are using and relocate it back by the tank and use a relay to power it----chris

The filter has about 3k on it...
