Fuel Pump Question ??

My friend had this rubber cover come off his pump on the back side (below the AFC and near the full load fuel screw)(between high idle/governor screw and idle screw) and there is fuel spraying out when you rev up the truck. Is this happening because that cover is missing or because of something going on underneath of it.

Its not leaking because of the cover missing. There is a o-ring or seal inside the afc bore where the fuel pin pops out and contacts the eccentric cone. This o-ring gets old, worn etc and leaks. This will need to be replaced.

Is there a part number for this Oring or should I just ask for a certain part from Cummins?

I believe the rebuild kit - gasket and seal kit for the VE is GSK121. You'll get all the o-rings, seals and gaskets for the VE pump. Runs about $18. Cummins, Bosch shop, or diesel vender can get you this kit.
