 Just talked to Cummins Great Lakes in Iron Mountain Michigan about my on going Engine Problem as posted earlier. They tell me that my fuel pump is going bad. Yippy ! Just what I need.

Now what? What would be my best course of action at this time?

I would remove it and send it to Piers or one of the other knowledgeable vendor here that repairs and modifys these pumps. Get the information about the failing component(s) and call someplace that can give you a good option of repair vs. replace. You might save a pile of $ and end up with more power too.

Injection pump or lift pump? Lift pump is no big deal. (realatively speaking) About $150 part and some wrenching in a tight spot.

Sorry to hear of the troubles. Hope it all works out quickly and cheaply.

If its the lift pump, be very careful when you remove it. The pump actuator shaft can fall into the engine if you don't hold on to it.

Thanks for all of the info.

According to Cummins Great Lakes, it IS the fuel pump getting ready to go. They also say that it could leave me stranded at any time. Not what I need right now.

Pier's have next day service????

Call Piers if he has one in stock he can ship next day. The Piers stupid pump is $2800. 00 + a core charge, he also has other pumps.
