I have read / Heard on our diesels running on French fry oil, etc.

My wife is a soaper and has 5 Gallons of Rice Bran Oil She does not want.

Does anyone know if it will work.

dont think the common rail would tolerate it, a mid 80s merc 300D would tho

Ditto on the veg oil, there are a few threads on home brew fuels. I believe someone recently had listed something for sale for fuel production constructed from the directions in said threads. I'll edit this reply and drop a link if I find it again.

I saw a gorgeous 4 speed manual 300D at an LKQ recently. Red leather Interior, white exterior. All complete. But the interior was pretty rough. I'd love to daily one but the parts availability is rather stark.

Edit found it: Cj Hall's sticky DSE fuel thread. The Fuel maker for sale made by Cj Hall

I wouldn't bother. Bio diesel at the pump creates enough issues.

At the rate fuel prices are soaring I can't fault the curiosity, I'm anticipating(not hoping) 911 threads for clogged 12v fuel systems. A member in a local 4x4 forum for my state was looking to purchase one with subtle intentions of running what I could only imagine being everything but diesel like it was a multi fuel Duce.

I'm really on the fence here. I get it! My Cummins is worth far more than the oil.

I'm not looking for cash savings, just a way to ethically dispose of what is now 8 gallons of oil that is no longer usable to make soap.

In Co Springs the county has a free hazardous waste drop off point - I have dropped off used peanut oil from a turkey fry there. You may want to check if there is a similar program in your area.

That almost makes it sound like your turkey fried in peanut oil was "hazardous waste"?
