fuel sender gone batty?

ok... here we go... .

i have a wastach fuel pressure guage. in march i took a 3000 mile trip to florida. on the trip down, the guage was giving me a sperriatic reading(10lbs to3lbs to0lbs thenback to 10lbs... so on and so on). so when i got home i got a new lift pump and installed at the tank. pressure up to 15lbs at idle and 13 crusing ... all is good... . now i change the sending unit from the filter to the VP44. one week later i glance down and had no fuel pressure i shut off the truck and tried bumping the starter... . nothing. checked the connections and bumped the starter again... . bingo!well a week has passed with no problem..... until today!back to no pressure. so i put on my spare lift pump... 10 lbs of pressure at idle then bam... . no pressure. i bumped the starter and nothing... i tried this three times... . nothing. then it came alive. 10 lbs again. took it for a ride with a test light and again i had no pressure but the pump was running. whet the he!! is going on? oh yea, my check engine light came on tonight also!

this is what mine was doing, I replaced the pump but never really checked the pressure on the new one (was in a hurry to go camping) I saw 19 while I was trying to prime it, but removed the gauge to get it started. I guess I should check it this weekend.
